🎀 Mollie’s Monthly Memories🎀

My Anniversary

I have officially been in London for ONE. WHOLE. YEAR.

While I get into the emotional aspect of my London Anniversary in Mollie’s Mind, the day itself was so special and filled with so much love.

It started off with brunch with the lovely Liz and Georgie. We ate at Grounded by Spitalfields. (Yes, I am aware that Grounded is also the name of the one-woman show I was in my sophomore year of college.)

After I met up with Emily to do some day-drinking and embarrass ourselves. We started with bowling which was… rough. I did so badly. Like children do better. Like children who have just learned to walk.

We traded the bowling balls for the ping pong balls. Did someone say, beer pong??? We did. Another activity I struggled with but not AS much. Really took me back to 2018 at Ultimate Frisbee Mixers.

The day ended with a homemade eggplant dish with my new favorite fruit: Pomegranate seeds. Yeah, you heard that right. New fruit on the block.

Settling Into The Leather Market.

So, as everyone is well aware (or they better be because it was in last month’s newsletter), I moved!

I wish I could get rid of my clothes as easily as I get rid of potential love interests but alas, I had somehow to shove all of my shit into my room.

Which I did! And I did it cute-ly. She’s comfy, she’s cozy, she’s quirky, she is …. my new bedroom…..

Wow, that's amazing, incredible, gorgeous. Unemployment has given me time to install invisible bookshelves and buy new crystals for my room.

Brighton

Hello day trip!!!
Okay Brighton may take my top city outside London award as of now!

Yaz, my day trip buddy, and I went to the hipster capital of England.

Brighton is also what British people think the beach is? Like honey babies… have you ever heard of sand. Because it’s a lot better than rocks.

It was no Maldives, but there was definitely an ocean and it was definitely made of water, and we definitely sat by it.

The Brighton seagulls are monsters who are bloodthirsty and survive off of dropped churros.

I spent a full hour in this antique/thrift/idk shop called Snoopers Paradise, which I am absolutely obsessed with. It felt like you are walking through all the boxes in the corner of your grandparents' basement: old love letters, postcards, buttons, and teapots, vintage coats, antique canes, and brochures. I spent so long there that Yaz was concerned I got lost.

This says “nellie” but it looks like “mollie” right????

We had some Brighton matcha obvi and some weird Italian bread. I bought crystals and took pictures of Yaz sleeping. Successful trip!

Also say thank you Betty for the suggestions

Tik Tok Fame??

What has been the biggest part of September? Could it be that I got 2,000 likes on a TikTok I made after three glasses of champagne and in the shower? Yes, yes, it is.

Being famous has been amazing<3 so glad i can experience this.

I do, however… have an enemy.

Someone is out to get me….

Some SICKO who is OBSESSED WITH ME reported my video for “nudity of a minor.” Yeah, I know.

So, obviously, I got into a three-day-long fight with TikTok. They should never try to argue with an unemployed Jewish woman. That's a losing battle, sweetie. Anyway, I won obvi, and my fame is back and on the rise.

@itismollie

An intimate relationship one might say @LUSH

Also, I am not the only one blowing up. @Clissold Park Tavern is also attempting to reach my level of celebrity by including me in their TikToks. I am obviously the brains and beauty of the whole thing. xx

Father Kerr Came to Visit

½ of my DNA came across the Atlantic to see his prized possession… and when he realized Sherlock the dog wasn’t in London he settled on hanging with me.

Drew and I ate some banger food. I had Flat Iron steak for the first time, and it was very yummy and affordable. I had Burmese food for the first time at Laphet Larder, which was delicious but did cause bouts of coughing due to its spiciness.

On his last day we had chicken liver from Lolo for brunch and I powered through the texture of it.

NO GRAMMERLY THIS IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

He and I also were patrons of The Arts.

“Why Am I So Single?” is not just the question I regularly ask my therapist and myself in my mirror at night….it is also the name of a musical. A queer, gen z musical about the issue with dating apps was perfect for my middle-aged father. The Northern accent of the two leads went so crazy. (@Liz I bet you would love it)

The musical was written by the same people who did Six. They are barely 30 and make me feel unsuccessful for my age. The music was good and fun. Very modern. I will say a full hour could have been cut. It went a bit off the rails when they started talking about dead dads 😶 rip.

Next, we saw two New Yorkers host a cabaret/open mike where they invited some of the best British musical theatre singers to sing on stage with absolutely no rehearsal. I loved it. It was sad when the older woman forgot her lines multiple times:( but we all powered through. Some of these Brits got PIPES.

We went to Bath (another day trip alert!!!) and saw some Bridgerton shooting locations and an adult man dressed in colonial garb. Another cute little city.

the original gay son or thot daughter

On his last night, Drew came to the infamous Clissold Park Tavern. He liked Chander's music, which felt like a real betrayal. We ate chicken milanese, which he described as “good but underseasoned.” Accurate.

I also had the honor of serving him his first Baby Guinness; he took it like a champ.

Thanks for visiting Dad:)

!!!!!!Honorable Mentions!!!!!!

I Hurt My Toe.

Self explanatory

Betty Overshadowed My Toe By Going To The Hospital….. Wow

She is OKAY THANK GOD. Girly really got a cut on her elbow and satan himself got into it.

Staff Party

The girlies got free alcohol and a pub to ourselves. We got smashed. (I got smashed) and (I) tried to order a bunch of garlic bread and roasted potatoes. Sorry, I’m a Marxist. A woman of the people one may say.

Everyone say thank you Betty for letting me pass out in her bed.

Bongo

Maura Had A Birthday

This cutie turned 24 and got lots of matcha-related gifts. Emily, Maura, Maura’s Boyfriend Nik and I went to this absolutely delicious Palestinian restaurant and we ate ate ate.

Happy birthday bestie

Uncle Came For Dinner (And There Is A Twist Ending!)

Mr. Uncle Gary came to visit me as a stop on his trip. He was going to Germany to honor the 80th anniversary of his father, my grandfather’s WWII mission where he got shot down over Germany and ended up in POW camp.

We went to a fancy Italian place. Blah blah yes we had nice family time. More importantly for this newsletter. I left the dinner with the hot Italian waiter being obsessed with me… and lets just say… that was not the last I saw of him… There is a story here but only my true fans will hear it. Everyone say Thank You Papa

🎀 Mollie’s Mind 🎀

365 Days of Being a Londoner

I have officially been a Brit for one year. Last August I came to the realization that this thing “grad school” and this idea of “moving abroad” was about to be a very real reality. For the year leading up to my move these ideas seemed far away and foreign (literally). A goal that I had, a master’s degree, I couldn’t yet see or hold. The year leading up to this move was a hard one for me as many know. I was dealing with a lot of change and for some reason, my solution was… more change?

New York with its 90 + floor buildings and 8 million inhabitants felt claustrophobic. Plus I am a certified intellectual academic weapon so like every other lost 23-year-old I chose to go to grad school.

And what a year it’s been. You, my loyal readers, (and if you read Mollie’s Mind, you are loyal). You were nonexistent, mere flickers in my future. Now look!! Look at all your beautiful souls I feel so deeply grateful to know.

What have I done this year? I traveled nationally….Hastings, Oxford, Brighton, Bath, Kent and Oxford.

And internationally…. Barcelona, Paris, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, and Sicily. Six countries!!

I got a job, no not just my academic representative role (hehe)… I am also a tavern wench. Now I just have to get a job with a salary…. we will get there but until then I do accept bank transfers, Zelle, Venmo, and cash.

This year was full. Sometimes full of love sometimes loneliness. Sometimes the year was full of uni, readings, and writings. It was full of laughter and new British slang. It was full of bad dates and international phone calls. It was full of cheese dip, cookies, and matcha dates. But overall it was full and you can’t deny that. I hope this next year is full of more adventures:)

🍵 Mollie’s Matcha 🍵

The best matcha award goes to The Matcha Thing in Bath.

The first UK store dedicated to matcha outside of London. Look at that fun fact.

The man working there and I gabbed and yapped about matcha. We were like “some places are so bad at making matcha amiright? 😉

It was also yum yum yum!

🎀 Mollie’s Music 🎀

I didn’t like it at first. I didn’t like it the second time either. But Devon said to keep listening. And I did. And now it scratches a great part of my brain.

Thanks for reading.

I miss you all so much,

XXXX
